Topic Summary: Come and see a demo of Microsoft's new Office Suite, Office 2010. The presenter will highlight the benefits and new features!

Microsoft Office 2010, codenamed Office 14, is the successor of Microsoft Office 2007, a productivity suite for Microsoft Windows.Extended file compatibility, user interface updates and a refined user experience are planned for Office 2010. With the introduction of Office 2010 a 64-bit version of Office will be available for the first time. It will be available for Windows XP SP3, Windows Vista and Windows 7. Furthermore, Office 2010 will mark the debut of free online versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote, which will work in the three most popular web browsers (Windows Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, and Apple Safari). Development started in 2006, will be released in the first half of 2010.

Speaker BIO(s):

Dave Sawyer is an Architectural Technology Specialist for Microsoft Corporation, an MCSE and Certified Professional.   Dave has been working at Microsoft for over 17 years helping organizations of all sizes to implement solutions based on Windows 2008 Server, Windows Server 2003, Microsoft's Office and BackOffice products. Dave has had a variety of experiences in his 20+ years in the computer field, including a good deal of experience with computers in manufacturing. Before coming to Microsoft, Dave worked at Ford Motor Company in their Powertrain Division, and at EDS/Saturn.  Dave started in 1991 as an Office Systems Engineer and over the years has held a wide variety of roles including work on the Central Region Technology Team, the Central Region Ecommerce team, and various roles inside the Great Lakes District.  Recently Dave has been involved with selling the Windows platform throughout the Heartland District. He loves to talk about Windows scalability and has spoken at the Windows Server 2003 Launch, Windows Vista and Windows XP launch, Angelbeat mobility events, Ann Arbor IT Zone and others. Dave staffed the terminal services pavilion at Comdex 2004 and has extensive experience with Thin Client solutions. Dave is also a Windows CE champ and Tablet PC Top Gun with detailed knowledge on how to use mobile devices in Enterprise, Wireless and PDA applications. Dave has been involved with the Detroit Youth Foundation, helping them define their technology needs and worked to see them awarded one of the largest UP grants Microsoft awarded recently. While not at work Dave spends time with his family, grows orchids, makes knives and loves to run and mountain bike.

Alex Cagigal is a Solution Specialist with Microsoft Corporation based out of Southfield, MI.  In this role, Alex is responsible for pre-sales activities, post sales deployment, and competitive initiatives related to Microsoft Business Productivity solutions.  He covers approximately 35 customers in the automotive and manufacturing industries.  Alex is also part of the Southeast Michigan SharePoint Users Group steering committee. Prior to this role, Alex was an Account Technology Specialist for a large global automotive company.  He spent 7 years working closely with IT and various business units on the adoption of Microsoft solutions and ensuring the success of his customer’s deployments of Microsoft software. Alex started his career at Microsoft as a Systems Engineer responsible for evangelizing e-Commerce solutions to customers and partners in Microsoft’s Great Lakes District Michigan/Ohio/Kentucky).  During this time, he specialized in educating and selling Microsoft’s Site Server platform. Prior to joining Microsoft, Alex worked at Black Dog Design (a digital marketing firm) and Apple Computer. Alex graduated from Depaul University with a Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems and a minor in Business Administration.  He enjoys spending his free time with his family, golfing, tuning his skill set in home automation, and listening to music.

The HDI Motown Chapter is a Community of technology service and support professionals that provides regular Opportunities for its members to network, exchange best practices and enhance their skills through sponsored training and relevant educational programs.

As a legal not-for-profit corporation, chartered in December 1999, we host monthly chapter meetings at varying locations around the Metro-Detroit area and also offer some members only training and networking opportunities.  All of our monthly chapter meetings are free and open to anyone working in or interested in the IT Service and Support industry.
